Since its inception in 1977, the North Carolina Arts Council’s Grassroots Arts Program (GAP) has been a driving force of change, providing enriching arts experiences for the citizens of North Carolina. By distributing funds across all 100 counties in the state, GAP has fostered partnerships with local arts councils. Standing in the gap, the Arts Council of Greater Greensboro in collaboration with the High Point Arts Council are vital partners to this program, fostering stability and resiliency in the Greater Greensboro area through Grassroots funding.
Unlocking Doors for Arts Organizations
GAP opens doors to a diverse range of artists and cultural groups. It embraces the rich tapestry of North Carolina’s multicultural landscape, empowering African American, Asian American, Latino, and Native American arts organizations to thrive within the Greater Greensboro community. This inclusivity enriches our shared creative narrative, ensures that every voice is heard, and drives creative impact within the community at large.
For arts organizations who want to transform their artistic aspirations into reality, GAP stands as a stalwart ally. The ACGG welcomes applicants from organizations with at least a year of operational history, with 501(c)(3) nonprofits preferred, but not required. This is a testament to The ACGG’s unwavering belief that the arts should be accessible and inclusive for all.
With grants ranging from $500 to $6,000, Grassroots funding supports arts organization operations and quality arts programs. These include program expenses such as artist fees, venue rentals, advertising, and equipment. Furthermore, operating expenses for qualified arts organizations that aren’t already receiving North Carolina Arts Council support can also be covered. This encompasses salaries, office supplies, utilities, and more. Grassroots breathes life into projects that might have remained confined to the realm of ideas, enriching the lives of those who benefit from the funded programs.
