Vision and Voice
Art and culture play a role in community development and revitalization by using creative-based solutions to preserve, enhance and strengthen Guilford County neighborhoods. The program supports artistic projects that honor and elevate the interwoven relationships, history and creative pulse of the community with those who directly benefit.
The community is at the center of this grant program.
More Information
The total grant pool for 2024 is $43,500, with the distribution of funding ranging from $2,000 to $10,000.
Eligible Projects
The Community Elevation Grant is location specific and focuses on the unique needs of East Greensboro. 2024 projects are taking place in the Warnersville Community and surrounding areas.
Proposed projects must have the following criteria:
- Provide value and impact through community engagement.
- Have a sustainable impact on the community.
- Have a historical preservation component.
- Eligible applicants: Greensboro based arts non-profit organizations.
Review and Success
The CEG program is defined by the level of community participation in engagement activities, the ability of organizations, businesses, and individuals to build meaningful partnerships and collaborations within the neighborhood, and the opportunities presented for active listening and storytelling.
Criteria for review include:
- Community impact of project or programs
- Artistic and cultural quality of project or program
- Ability to plan and implement the project or program
- Stability and fiscal responsibility of the organizations
- Sustainable impact on the community
Selected applicants must sign a contract before funding and will be responsible for reporting on the project with detailed descriptions, participation statistics, and demographic information, and provide photos/video of the project in progress at the time of completion. A financial budget will be required if the project is selected for funding.
2024 Grantees
African American Atelier – The Artistic Roots program: Artistic workshops, a community art project, artistic mentorship and the presentation at the community festival.
Creative Aging Network-NC – Heritage Cookbook to highlight the rich culture and traditions of the families in Greensboro’s first Heritage Community.
Gant School of Music – Assemble an ensemble of young musicians aged 8-18 from the Warnersville community to perform a drumline.
Shared Radiance – Capturing and preserving the oral history and memories of those who have lived in or knew individuals from the vibrant Warnersville Community.
TAB Arts Center – Building an ancestral garden and collaborating with a local sculptor who will create a three dimensional piece to commemorate Warnersville.
