Director of Development
Job Location: Greensboro, NC
The position will remain open until filled.

Type of Position: Part-Time – Independent Contractor
Salary: Contract position only, pay commensurate with experience, salary ranges from $12,000-18,000 annually.
Reports to: Board Chair & Board of Directors
Purpose of Position: The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of Triad Pride Performing Arts fundraising activities which include Grant writing, Corporate sponsorships, Annual giving campaign, planned giving, special events, Playbill Ads.. The Director works closely with the Board of Directors in all development and fund-raising endeavors.
Time Commitment: 15 hours per week, Flexible hours, evenings, and weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them.
- Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors.
- Oversee grant seeking, including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
- Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.
- Direct the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives.
- Coordinate fundraising special events.
- Direct performing membership fundraising drives.
- Oversee prospect research.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors.
- Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about the Triad Pride Performing Arts with the community.
- Attend board meetings and chair Board Development Committee meetings.
- Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
- Supervise and collaborate with other fundraising staff.
- Oversee the creation of publications to support fundraising activities.
- Maintain gift recognition programs.
- Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
Promote the TPPA’s mission of community
- Work with the performing groups and TPPA Board to promote a positive atmosphere of community within the organization.
- Participate in TPPA functions such as events, retreats, Organization Development, and fundraisers that pertain to the operating budget of the TPPA
- Network with other arts organizations and community groups to increase the visibility of TPPA to encourage collaboration.
Communicate with the TPPA Board and Organizational leadership
- Communicate with the board
- Attend TPPA Board meetings
- Attend Operations Committee meetings when necessary
- Chair the fundraising committee
- Serve as a staff resource for TPPA volunteers
Job duties that substantially exceed the above listed duties will be considered for additional compensation, at the discretion of the Board.
Required Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must embrace the mission of Triad Pride Performing Arts
- Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
- Have knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques
- Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers.
- Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.
- Be a “self-starter” and goal-driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
- Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals.
- Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense, and good listening ability.
- A bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3 years minimum experience in professional fundraising.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage a significant level of detail.
- Flexibility in working with a diverse group of volunteers and personalities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- An ability to work within electronic mediums: word processing, e-mail, internet and intranet.
